This weeks video was shot on a 7D on a monopod and a Black Magic pocket handheld with a handheld rig. The music was recorded and mixed by an engineer at EastWest Studios.
Walking into this shoot we were pretty pumped because we were finally getting out of the house and shooting in a new, cool location. Quite a few famous artists and bands have come through the studio we got to record in, so it was a great change of pace.
I'm not going to lie, we were a little underprepared for the shoot, and got lost in the excitement of not shooting in our living room. We also decided it was a good time to play with image stabilization on handheld shots...Not our smartest move, but luckily the shots turned out pretty good.
We had a blast shooting in the space. It felt a little like we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to capture every possible angle and moment during the song. We were in such an amazing space we kind of forgot to organize our coverage and missed out on some good footage. But all in all the shoot turned out amazing and Yong was able to do some fantastic editing to put together a great piece of work.
We learned a lot during this shoot. We had started getting comfortable shooting in our own space and had gotten lazy when it came to planning coverage for live shoots. We were reminded how important planning coverage and to stay focused on the project. Luckily we were able to get another opportunity to work with another artist (Katie Boeck) at EastWest studios in studio 1, which is an other incredible space, and you can tell we learned from our mistakes. So look for that in the next couple of weeks!
Thanks for reading, and until next time.
